So lets do a quick little #tbt to talk about this awesome fashion show. I have done quite a few fashion shows now, but this one in particular was extra special to me. August 19th, 2017 at 7pm was the moment I showed my entire heart to a room full of 300 strangers. I went into this show feeling so honored that Brian Atkins, a local Greensboro designer, thought so highly of me that he chose little ol' me to be one of two of his featured designers in his fashion show. Love that guy, he rocks. At the time that he asked me to be a part of it, we were at a charity Avant Garde fashion show back in January and I had absolutely no idea what I would be creating for it. Once it hit me to create my line for DESIRABLES for the show, I hit the ground running and was eager to start the collection. In no time I had about 8 pieces already made- bralettes are so fun to make and I luvvv them- and I made my best friend try them on and model every single one of them in her hallway at her townhouse. Brian had mentioned there was no limit to how many pieces I showed as long as I showed at least around 7 or 8. Well, the eager beaver that I am decided to do 15 and be an over achiever, not thinking at all about who the heck would be wearing these pieces at the show.
Finding 15 models was the STRUG. Some models said they would do it and then would blow me off after setting fitting dates. Some right out the gate said no because they thought I was going to make them walk down the runway in a thong and see-through bra. I even had a few models drop on me after agreeing to it because they "didn't want to be seen in such risqué clothing on the runway" which I totally understand, and I am not here to make you do anything you don't want to, but man 15 models in the small town of Greensboro, NC is not the funnest of tasks to be dealt.
But any who, after that was finally worked out and the pieces were officially made, the show could not come fast enough for me. I just wanted to launch the brand and get to selling my pieces to everyone. I don't think I quite realized at the time just how much work I would need to do in setting up the business before it all went down, but let me tell you it was definitely a learning process and I am super happy it's over. The night went AMAZZINGGG and I love all my models who killed it out on the runway. The feedback for the line was phenomenal and I am beyond grateful to Brian for giving me that platform to showcase it. I could write for days about this night and how I got there, but for now we'll leave it at this:
God provides in abundance when you trust in Him!!!!
